Workshops
How do they do it? How can they think of all that stuff so
fast? How are they so confident? I wonder if I could do
that?!?!?! What are all those fun games they play, like:
Shakespeare, Five Things,
Dr. Know It All, Dime Store Novel, Oxygen Deprivation,
Radio, Day In The Life, Object Freeze, What Are You Doing,
Limerick, Revolving Door, Chain Murder Death, Game-o-Matic,
Side Line Debate, and Playwright.
The Comedy Improv Workshops provide you the opportunity to
find the skills, techniques, courage, and magic that is
Comedy Improv! In these workshops, you will learn the basic
rules of improvisation as a theatre technique. Participants
will also learn Improv as a theatre form. This workshop is
for people who have never done Improv before and would love
to try or for people who have done improv before and want to
brush up on their skills!
After workshopping, participants will give a performance to
display their talents and skills. The show is a mandatory
part of the class and will take place on Saturday, June 2nd
at 8:00 p.m. This performance will be done in a competitive
format where teams of Improv players compete for points
decided by audience members based on which team performs the
best structures, funniest material, most original ideas, and
best character and environment work.

The Instructor
Barry
Schreier, Ph.D. acted professionally for seven years
performing over 700 shows with ComedySportz, a nationally
renowned Improv company. Dr. Schreier also founded and
directed the University of Michigan Improvisational Theatre
Company for two years. Dr. Schreier has also taught and
performed Improv at Civic Theatre for eight years and
Directs “One Size Fits All Improv”-Lafayette’s Own Friendly
Neighborhood Improv Troupe which performs regularly at Civic
Theatre of Greater Lafayette and at The Lafayette Brewing
